Hayley Matthews and Deandra Dottin put on a masterclass, leading Melbourne Renegades Women to a commanding victory over Adelaide Strikers Women in the 23rd game of the Women’s Big Bash League 2024. The match was held on Monday, November 11, at Karen Rolton Oval in Adelaide.
Chasing 186, captain Matthews and Courtney Webb (37 off 29 balls) put on 89 runs from 64 balls before the latter was forced to retire hurt. Alice Capsey came in as her replacement but had a disappointing stint, falling for just four off three balls.
From then on, it was all about the West Indies duo of Matthews and Dottin, who unleashed a barrage of boundaries. Matthews remained unbeaten on 85 off 54 balls, striking 12 boundaries and two sixes, while Dottin finished on 46* off 18, including seven fours and one six.

The pair put on an explosive 85 runs off just 33 balls, leading the Renegades to a dominant nine-wicket victory with 17 balls to spare and securing their fourth win in seven games. Meanwhile, this was Adelaide’s fifth loss in six games.
Notable contributions from Smriti Mandhana and Tahlia McGrath help Adelaide set a respectable total on the board
Melbourne Renegades won the toss and elected to bowl first. Adelaide's opening pair of Smriti Mandhana and Katie Mack (19) put on 56 runs for the first wicket. Mandhana looked in good touch before being dismissed for 40 off 25 balls, with seven boundaries.
Laura Wolvaardt contributed a run-a-ball 27. Captain Tahlia McGrath was exceptional, scoring 49 off 24 balls, including eight boundaries and a six.
At the death, Orla Prendergast added a quickfire 24 off 12 balls, including four boundaries, as the Strikers posted a total of 185/8 after 20 overs. Renegades captain Hayley Matthews was the pick of the bowlers, taking two wickets.
