[Watch] Hilarious scenes witnessed in TNPL 2024 as man refuses to return ball after batter smashes six out of the ground

A rather funny incident took place during the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) 2024 match between Chepauk Super Gillies and Siechem Madurai Panthers at the NPR College Ground in Dindigul on Sunday, July 28. A batter slammed a six out of the ground. A man found the ball, but refused to return it back to the field of play.

Siechem Madurai Panthers beat Chepauk Super Gillies by nine runs in match number 27 of TNPL 2024. Sent in to bat after losing the toss, Panthers put up 191-4 on the board in their 20 overs, with Suresh Lokeshwar top-scoring with 55 off 40 balls, while Jagatheesan Kousik contributed 43* off 24. In the chase, Chepauk Super Gillies were held to 182-8 as Karthick Manikandan picked up 3-23.

The X handle of Star Sports Tamil shared a clip of a hilarious incident from the match. A left-handed batter from Chepauk Super Gillies pulled a short ball from a right-arm pacer for a maximum. The ball landed well outside the stadium and the cameras panned to man holding the ball. He, however, refused to give back the ball despite being insisted to do so and walked away holding the ball in his hand.

Speaking of the TNPL 2024 match, Chepauk Super Gillies came hard in the chase as Pradosh Ranjan Paul hit 52 off 37, a knock which included four sixes, while D Santhosh Kumar contributed 48 off 36, with the aid of three fours and three sixes. Siechem Madurai Panthers, however, held their nerves to sneak home to a win.


TNPL 2024 playoffs to begin on July 30

The league stage of Tamil Nadu Premier League 2024 concluded with match number 28 between Dindigul Dragons and Nellai Royal Kings on Sunday. Royal Kings won the game by four wickets.

Following the conclusion of the league stage, Lyca Kovai Kings, IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans, Chepauk Super Gillies and Dindigul Dragons qualified for the TNPL 2024 playoffs.

Lyca Kovai Kings will take on IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans in Qualifier 1 at the NPR College Ground in Dindigul on July 30. Chepauk Super Gillies will then face Dindigul Dragons in Eliminator in Dindigul on July 31.

The loser of Qualifier 1 will take on the winner of the Eliminator in Qualifier 2 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on August 2. The final of the T20 tournament will be played at the same venue on August 4.
