New Zealand opener Devon Conway, participating in the ongoing Test against Sri Lanka at Galle International Stadium, was asked by a fan about his future with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Wednesday, September 18.

Batting first, Sri Lanka posted 305 runs in their first innings, thanks to a 114-run innings from Kamindu Mendis.

Meanwhile, on Day 1 of the Test, Conway was near the crowd when a fan inquired about his IPL future.

The fan said:

“Are you playing for Chennai next year?”

The Kiwi batter replied:

"Hopefully."

CSK bought Conway for ₹1 crore during the mega auction in 2022. The left-handed batter played seven matches that season, accumulating 252 runs with three fifties. In a remarkable 2023 season, the 33-year-old scored 672 runs in 16 games at an average of 51.69, including six half-centuries, significantly contributing to CSK's fifth title victory.

However, the Blackcaps player missed the 2024 season due to a thumb injury. It will be intriguing to see whether the CSK management retains Conway, as details about the retention rules and auction are yet to be announced.
