[Watch] "I walked around South Africa asking for sandpaper" - Grace Harris takes a cheeky dig at Steve Smith and David Warner

Australian women's cricketer Grace Harris recently took a light-hearted shot at her male counterparts David Warner, Steve Smith and Cameron Bancroft. She did so while sharing her experience from the Women's T20 World Cup 2023.

The mega event happened in South Africa last year, where Australia beat the home team in the final to become the champions. Grace Harris was a member of that squad, and she shared how she names her bats after burgers, but ICC doesn't allow players to write anything on their bats.

In a chat with The Grade Cricketer, Harris was asked about her broken bat from WBBL last year. She went viral on the internet after hitting a six with a broken bat.

"Well, I actually didn't really think it was broken. When it snapped, I was like well, second best bat, Zingy Stacker. So, Zingy Stacker rolled on out," Harris recalled.

When asked what did Zingy Stacker mean, Harris replied:

"I named all my bats after burgers because they are all stickered the same. Some people number them whatever, I was like, nah, stuff it, I like burgers. So, I named mine after burgers and McCrispy broke."

The hosts were curious and asked her how she recognized the bats because all had the same stickers.

"It's written just where the hyper stickers are, it's written just on the top of the handle. I have to stop doing that because throughout the ICC World Cup, they said, you can't have writing on your bat. So I walked around South Africa asking for sandpaper, which as an Australian obviously (laughs)," Harris joked.

When Grace Harris smashed a 6 with a broken bat in WBBL

Grace Harris was indirectly referring to the infamous ball-tampering scandal from Australia's tour of South Africa in 2018. David Warner, Cameron Bancroft and Steve Smith faced punishment for trying to tamper with the ball's condition in a Test match.

However, the conversation started around Harris' broken bat. While playing Brisbane Heat in a match against the Perth Scorchers, Harris' bat broke. She still continued with it, though, and ended up striking a maximum off Piepa Cleary's bowling, much to everyone's surprise.
