[Watch]"I will be unemployed"- Rahul Dravid hilariously asks reporters for job offers after India's T20 World Cup triumph
Team India's head coach Rahul Dravid has dropped some memorable one-liners over the years and delivered another gem after the Men in Blue's T20 World Cup triumph. India beat South Africa by seven runs in Barbados to lift their second T20 crown.
After the win, a reporter asked Dravid whether life would be the same for him and whether he would be able to move on quickly from such a memorable win.
To this, Rahul Dravid humorously replied:
"I will be. Next week, life will be the same for me. I will be unemployed, that will be the only difference (laughs). I am unemployed next week. Any offers? (smiles)"
Here's the video:
Dravid does not easily show emotions, but the head coach didn't hold back after India won the T20 World Cup. He enthusiastically celebrated the victory and even roared in delight with the players and the coaching staff.
Jay Shah reveals reason for not extending Rahul Dravid's tenure
Honorary BCCI secretary Jay Shah addressed the reporters after the T20 World Cup victory and talked about why Rahul Dravid's tenure was not extended. Shah claimed that the cricketing icon wanted to spend more time with his family and the BCCI completely respected his perspective. On this, he said (via Indian Express):
"He (Dravid) told me that due to family commitments he wants to quit and we respect his decision. I didn’t force him to extend. Rahul Dravid’s role is as important as Rohit Sharma in this T20 World Cup title triumph. He is a man, who took the team to the 2023 ODI World Cup final and didn’t wanted to leave because he wanted to finish the job."
Dravid also won the U19 World Cup as coach back in 2018. He worked for three years as the head of the National Cricket Academy and was then appointed as the head coach of the Indian men's team after the 2021 T20 World Cup.
