[Watch] Imran Tahir performs Cristiano Ronaldo’s iconic ‘siu’ celebration against Barbados Royals in CPL 2024
Guyana Amazon Warriors captain Imran Tahir spiced up his signature “running” celebration by finishing it with football legend Cristiano Ronaldo’s iconic move. This memorable moment occurred during the 27th match of the Caribbean Premier League against the Barbados Royals on Wednesday, September 25.
It was the first ball of the 11th over of Barbados' innings when Tahir dismissed Rovman Powell with a well-executed wrong’un. The right-handed batter rushed down the pitch, misjudged the delivery, and saw it hit his back leg before toppling the stumps.
Tahir then celebrated by sprinting toward the crowd, capping it off with Ronaldo’s iconic “siu” celebration.
Here’s a video of the moment:
Chasing a target of 220, Quinton de Kock scored 35 runs off 23 balls for the Royals. However, they struggled to build partnerships, losing half their team for just 79 runs.
David Miller was in superb form, remaining not out with 71 runs off 34 balls, which included eight fours and five sixes. He lacked support from the rest of the team, as the Royals ended their innings at 172/9, losing by 47 runs.
Gudakesh Motie stood out for the Warriors, taking three wickets, while Moeen Ali and Imran Tahir claimed two.
