[Watch] India engage in a fun & unique fielding drill ahead of BGT 2024-25 3rd Test
Team India's preparations are in full swing ahead of the third Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 Test at the Gabba, starting Saturday, December 14. After a 10-wicket loss in the second Test in Adelaide, the visitors will be hoping to bounce back in Brisbane.
While batting and bowling are key aspects, fielding is also a major aspect that teams focus on across formats. Ahead of the third Test, Team India were engaged in a fun and unique fielding drill, led by fielding coach T Dilip.
The entire team was divided into three groups. There were six targets set and each group was given a maximum of 18 balls to bring down the six targets, each of which would be removed once it was hit.
"Today fielding, we'll start off with team fielding. We have three groups. There are six targets, length and breadth different. There's a knockout game. Each group has 18 maximum balls to bring down six targets. Once you hit a stump, it will be removed," fielding coach T Dilip said in a video released by the BCCI.
The Indian cricketers can be seen enjoying the unique fielding drill while getting behind each other and remaining equally competitive.
In the end, fielding coach T Dilip declared the second group as the winner. From the video, the Indian team appears to be in a good frame of mind, enjoying the process and the drill.
India's Test record at the Gabba, Brisbane
Heading into the third BGT 2024-25 Test at the Gabba, Brisbane, India do not boast a successful Test record at the venue. The visitors have played seven Tests here, winning just once while suffering five losses and managing one draw.
Despite a poor overall record, Team India will take confidence from the fact that their only Test win at the Gabba came on their previous tour in 2021, where they scripted a famous three-wicket win thanks to Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill's heroics in the historic run-chase.
The visitors will be keen to replicate a similar performance this time.
