Ever since the start of the 2023 World Cup, T Dilip had made it a tradition in the Indian dressing room to hand best fielder medals to players in each game. The latest recipient of the same was Suryakumar Yadav, who took an outstanding catch in the last over to help India beat South Africa in the T20 World Cup final.
T Dilip on India's sensational fielding in the T20 World Cup
T Dilip credited the Indian team for being outstanding in the field on different surfaces in the USA as well as in the Caribbean at the T20 World Cup. He was delighted to see Suryakumar Yadav take the crucial catch at a massive juncture in the game, further highlighting the importance of fielding in the sport.
Here's what Dilip told TOI:
"Winning the World Cup through a catch and fielding being part of such a big occasion is the best feeling as a fielding coach. Overall, our fielding was excellent and taking such catches in high-pressure situations shows the work we put in behind the scenes. We have been clinical. Playing in different grounds like in New York, Florida in the US, I wouldn't say was difficult, but it was challenging. We were always adapting to conditions."
Along with head coach Rahul Dravid, T Dilip's contract with the national team has come to an end. He revealed that he has not made any plans for his next stint as he is still letting the emotions of the T20 World Cup win sink in.
