[Watch] Irfan Pathan shouts in anger at brother Yusuf Pathan after being run out vs SA in WCL 2024
Former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan was furious with elder brother Yusuf Pathan after being involved in a miscommunication that led to his run out in the 2024 World Championship of Legends (WCL) clash against South Africa Champions. With a semi-final berth on the line, the two brothers were at the crease during India Champions' run-chase.
While the target to win was 211, India Champions only had to reach 153 to finish in the top four and qualify for the semi-final. However, even that was in doubt when they were 132/5 in 18 overs, with 21 runs needed off 12 to qualify.
Irfan skied the first delivery of the penultimate over from Dale Steyn but the ball evaded the fielder. Yet, miscommunication ensued between Irfan and Yusuf, with the former running back for a second and the latter staying put at the strikers' end.
It resulted in Irfan trying to return to the non-strikers' end but Steyn received an excellent throw from the deep from Dane Vilas to remove the bails and catch Irfan short of the crease.
A visibly angry Irfan then looked back and had a go at Yusuf for selling him down the river.

Despite the incident, it was a case of 'All's well that ends well ' for the India Champions, reaching 156/6 in their 20 overs with a final ball boundary from Yusuf Pathan sealing their semi-final qualification.
While Irfan was run out on 35 from 21, Yusuf finished unbeaten on a sensational 54 off 44 deliveries.

Despite the heat-of-the-moment exchange between the brothers during India Champions' tense run-chase, the two made up at the end of the contest.
After Yusuf helped the side qualify for the semi-final and walked back, Irfan kissed him on his forehead.

It is worth remembering Irfan and Yusuf were part of Team India's maiden T20 World Cup title run in 2007. While Yusuf opened the batting in the grand finale against Pakistan, Irfan was the Player of the Match in India's title-clinching encounter.
The duo will be back in action when India Champions take on Australia Champions in the second semi-final of WCL 2024 in Northampton on Friday, July 12.
