[Watch] "It changed my life" - Rinku Singh explains the '5 sixes' connection to his 'God's Plan' tattoo

India and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) batter Rinku Singh recently opened up on the story behind his 'God's Plan' tattoo and how it represents the five sixes he hit during an IPL match against Gujarat Titans (GT).

Left-hander batter Rinku became a sensation after slamming GT left-arm pacer Yash Dayal for five consecutive sixes in the last over of an IPL 2023 match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. KKR needed a seemingly improbable 29 runs from the last over, but Rinku clobbered five successive sixes to pull off a near-miraculous win for his side.

The 26-year-old is currently part of the Indian team for the three-match T20I series against Bangladesh. On Saturday, October 5, the official X handle of BCCI shared a clip of the cricketer opening up about his 'God's Plan' tattoo and how it pays tribute to the five sixes he hit against Gujarat Titans in IPL 2023. Rinku said:

"I keep saying God's Plan. I designed my tattoo based on that. It's been a few weeks since I got it. The words 'God's Plan' are written inside a circle, which represents the sun. The main aspect of the tattoo is the representation of the five sixes I hit in the IPL. It changed my life, so I thought I would include them in the tattoo."

Rinku was named the Player of the Match for his unbeaten 48 off 21 balls as Kolkata Knight Riders beat Gujarat Titans by three wickets in match number 13 of IPL 2023 in Ahmedabad. Thanks to the southpaw's heroics, KKR chased down a target of 205 off the last ball of the match. Looking at his IPL career so far, the 26-year-old has featured in 45 matches and has scored 893 runs at a strike rate of 143.34.

Rinku had made an impressive start to this T20I career

Following his IPL exploits, the Uttar Pradesh cricketer was handed his T20I debut in August 2023 during the tour of Ireland. The left-hander has made an impactful start to his international career. In 23 T20Is, he has scored 418 runs at an average of 59.71 and a strike rate of 174.16, with two half-centuries.

Rinku narrowly missed out on a place in India's 2024 T20 World Cup squad and was named as one of the standbys. Apart from featuring in 23 T20Is, he has also played two ODIs for India, scoring 55 runs with a best of 38.
