[Watch] "It's home" - BCCI shares video of players taking out and relishing T20 World Cup Trophy inside flight

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) took to their social media to share a heartwarming video of the players unboxing and boxing the T20 World Cup 2024 trophy on a chartered flight back home. All the players took turns to unpack the trophy, with a few even kissing it before putting it back in its place on the Air India flight from Barbados to New Delhi.

Rohit Sharma's men completed the mission of winning a World Cup title that has eluded them for over a decade, and the joy was visible on the players' faces.

Here is the video of the same:

The BCCI also shared a video of the players dancing with the World Cup trophy and holding it with incredible joy during their flight.

All the players were in a joyous mood at bringing the cup home and everyone celebrated in their unique way during their memorable flight trip.

The Men in Blue became the first team to win a T20 World Cup title without suffering a single defeat. India ran through the group stages and the Super Eights with seven consecutive wins before demolishing England in the semi-final by 68 runs.

In the grand finale, they overcame a stern South African side to pull off a seven-run win and secure their second T20 World Cup title (the first came in 2007).

Team India set for a busy celebration schedule on July 4

Following their landing in New Delhi on Thursday morning (July 4), the Indian team will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence at around 11 AM IST. After this, they will be on another flight to Mumbai for a celebratory parade in the evening.

The parade is expected to start from the Marine Drive and culminate at the Wankhede Stadium at around 5 PM IST.

Indian skipper Rohit Sarma took to his X/Twitter handle on the eve of the parade day, calling out fans to join the same.

"India, We want to enjoy this special moment with all of you. So let’s celebrate this win with a victory parade at Marine Drive & Wankhede on July 4th from 5:00pm onwards. It’s coming home," Rohit wrote.

After the parade, the Indian players, coaches, and support staff will be felicitated at the Wankhede Stadium. A ₹125 crore cash prize will also be awarded to them, as announced by the BCCI secretary Jay Shah.
