[Watch] Jacob Bethell takes catch of the tournament contender, saves certain six in The Hundred Eliminator
Jacob Bethell took an extraordinary catch to dismiss James Coles in The Hundred Eliminator on Saturday, August 17. The Kennington Oval in London hosted the game between Birmingham Phoenix and Southern Brave.
The dismissal came off the 96th delivery off Southern Brave’s innings. Sean Abbott bowled a length ball on the leg stump and Coles picked it right from the middle of the bat for a flick shot, but Bethell had other plans.
The latter saved a certain six with an excellent jump at the boundary, diving to perfection millimeters inside the boundary ropes at deep backward square leg. During the process, he avoided touching the boundary ropes despite the momentum pushing him towards the skirting.

“Incredible awareness of the boundary! An outstanding catch from Jacob Bethell.”

They had the same points as second-placed Phoenix but a better net run rate (NRR) helped book a direct entry in the final.
