[Watch] Jaker Ali seemingly consults dressing room for successful review in BAN vs NEP 2024 T20 World Cup match
Bangladesh player Jaker Ali seemingly consulted with the dressing room before advising his batting partner Tanzim Hasan Sakib to take a DRS review after he was adjudged out by the on-field umpire. The moment transpired during the 2024 T20 World Cup match between Bangladesh and Nepal on Monday at the Arnos Vale Ground in Kingstown.
On the first ball of the 14th over, Tanzim Hasan Sakib tried to play a sweep shot to a full delivery from Nepal leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane. However, he missed the ball, and it stuck him on the pads. The umpire went on to raise the finger after a strong appeal from Nepal fielders and the bowler.
However, non-striker Jaker was seemingly spotted looking at the team's dressing room before asking Sakib to take a DRS review for the LBW call. The replays showed that the ball missed the wicket and the decision was overturned by the TV umpire.

Bangladesh beat Nepal by 21 runs and advanced to Super 8 of 2024 T20 World Cup
After being asked to bat first, Bangladesh batters struggled on a sluggish pitch and got bundled out for 106 in 19.4 overs. None of their batters could cross the 20-run mark, as Shakib Al Hasan (17) was the top-scorer. Sompal Kami, Dipendra Singh, Rohit Paudel, and Sandeep Lamichhane scalped two wickets apiece for the Nepal side.
Tanzim Hasan Sakib (4/7) and Mustafizur Rahman (3/7) bowled sensational spells to help Bangladesh skittle out Nepal for just 85 in 19.2 overs. Kushal Malla (27) and Dipendra Singh (25) made valiant efforts, but all the others failed to come to the party, resulting in a dismal loss.
Nepal captain Rohit Paudel reflected on the defeat at the post-match presentation, saying:
"I think we bowled really well but as a batting unit, the top-order could have been technically tighter. But the new-ball bowling I thought from Bangladesh was brilliant! They asked challenging questions to us in the power play. We need to step up as a batting line-up."
He continued:
"We have to understand how and where to score runs, going forward. This team has great potential, with more exposure and experience, we should only get better. We've disappointed our fans, we thought we could win some games here, but it's not to be. Still, the support has been great!"
