Team India spearhead Jasprit Bumrah came through for his side in a crunch situation yet again as he dismissed the dangerous Travis Head in the ongoing 2024 T20 World Cup Super 8 encounter. The Men in Blue were in desperate need of a breakthrough at the back end of the innings at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in St. Lucia on Monday, June 24.
Travis Head threatened to play spoilsport against India once again as he led the run-chase effort in the must-win encounter for Australia. He scored a spirited half-century and had the task of closing out the innings with the middle order. However, he felt the pressure of the climbing required rate, and was pitted against Jasprit Bumrah in the 17th over.
After Australia managed only a couple of runs off the first two deliveries, Head had to go all out. The left-handed batter was prepared to take on the ace pacer, but was deceived by a slower delivery that was clocked at 127kmph.
Head got into an awkward shape while trying to heave the delivery and could only manage a leading edge. The ball went straight to Rohit Sharma at cover to seal the crucial wicket. Have a look at the dismissal right here:
Travis Head departed after scoring 76 runs off 43 deliveries, with nine fours and four sixes and a strike rate of 176.74.
