[Watch] "Jasbaati nahi, jasbaati nahi!" - Suryakumar Yadav gives valuable advice to Jitesh Sharma ahead of PBKS vs MI IPL 2024 match
Mumbai Indians (MI) star batter Suryakumar Yadav shared some valuable advice with Punjab Kings (PBKS) wicketkeeper Jitesh Sharma when the two met during a practice session ahead of the IPL 2024 encounter between their teams in Mullanpur on Thursday, April 18.
In a video posted by PBKS on X (formerly Twitter), the likes of Arshdeep Singh, Tilak Varma, Suryakumar, and Jitesh are seen greeting each other. SKY then has a chat with Jitesh about the latter's batting and explains how the wicketkeeper-batter needs to not get too ahead of himself.
Here's what Suryakumar Yadav told Jitesh Sharma:
"Bhai bola hai aapko kitne baar. Jasbaati nahi, jasbaati nahi! Bat lete ho to tum 12 run maarne jaate ho (Brother I told you so many times don't let your emotions get the better of you. When you pick up the bat why do you try to hit 12 runs?)"
Here's the video:
Suryakumar has been pretty vocal about promoting talented Indian players and has often expressed his happiness on social media whenever the likes of Jitesh and others have done well.
Jitesh Sharma needs to deliver soon with T20 World Cup in sight
A couple of impactful seasons for PBKS saw Jitesh Sharma break into the Indian T20I team during the Asian Games last year. He also left quite an impact in the T20Is against Australia just after the 2023 World Cup.
However, the IPL 2024 season so far hasn't been the way Jitesh would have wanted it to be. In six matches, the wicketkeeper has scored just 106 runs at a modest average of 17.67. He hasn't been able to make the most of the situations he was in to win the games for his team.
With the likes of Sanju Samson, Rishabh Pant, and Ishan Kishan showing great form, Jitesh will know that the spot for India's wicketkeeper in the T20 World Cup will have a lot of competition.
He will probably hope that the match against MI is where he starts his turnaround and strengthens his claim for the T20 World Cup berth.
