[Watch] Jason Holder and Rovman Powell combine to pull off a stunning relay catch in BR vs TKR CPL 2024 match
Barbados Royals' Jason Holder and Rovman Powell pulled off a stellar double act near the boundary region to complete a catch in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2024 fixture against the Trinbago Knight Riders on Friday, September 13. Holder eventually took the catch to get rid of the dangerous Nicholas Pooran.
The dismissal occurred in the innings' ninth over as left-arm spinner Keshav Maharaj sent a full delivery outside off and Pooran lashed at it. But the southpaw miscued his hit as Powell grabbed the ball. However, realizing he was going over the ropes, the skipper threw the ball just in time as Holder caught it.
Take a look at the stunning catch below:
Earlier, Powell also starred with the bat as he struck 59 off 38 deliveries with the aid of five sixes to propel the Royals to a competitive total of 159.
Jason Holder fails to defend 11 off the final over as Knight Riders win a thriller
The Royals failed to get over the line despite holding an upper hand in the final two balls of the match, with four runs needed. With right-arm seamer Holder delivering a full toss, Terrance Hinds hit it onto the sightscreen over the bowler's head to seal the deal for the Knight Riders.
Knight Riders openers Sunil Narine and Jason Roy were dismissed cheaply, while Shaqkere Paris (35), Nicholas Pooran (35), and Keacy Carty (32) did their best to take their side closer to the target. However, skipper Kieron Pollard failed to deliver. Akeal Hosein scored a priceless cameo of 20 off 10 deliveries with four boundaries, while Hinds stayed unbeaten at 14, including two fours and a six.
The Royals and Knight Riders are second and third in the standings, respectively, with three wins each in four games.
