[Watch] Jasprit Bumrah picks five-a-side football team with cricketers; includes Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni
India’s spearhead pacer Jasprit Bumrah chose his ideal five-a-side football team of cricketers in a recent interaction with the Indian Super League. Bumrah was last seen on the cricket field during the 2024 T20 World Cup final, where India triumphed over South Africa by seven runs to win the title.
During the interaction, the 30-year-old was asked where he would play if he was a footballer. To which he replied:
“I think I would be a midfielder. I like to do a lot of work, so I think I would be able to help in defense as well as the attack.”
The Indian cricketer was then asked to assemble a five-a-side football team featuring both Indian and international cricketers. Bumrah selected MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli for the attack.
The 30-year-old also mentioned that he had heard positive things about the English team, so he included Jos Buttler and Stuart Broad in defense. For the goalkeeper, Bumrah humorously chose himself.
Here’s the video of the interaction:
Bumrah played a key role in the Men in Blue’s success at the 2024 T20 World Cup. The pacer was named Player of the Tournament for his outstanding performance with the ball, claiming 15 wickets in eight matches at an average of 8.26 and maintaining an impressive economy rate of 4.17.
