[Watch] Jasprit Bumrah removes Mitchell Starc for his sixth wicket on Day 3 of BGT 2024-25 3rd Test
India vice-captain Jasprit Bumrah provided the first wicket on Day 3 (Monday, December 16) of the third Test against Australia at the Gabba in Brisbane. The ace pacer removed Mitchell Starc caught behind for 18 runs off 30 balls as the Aussies lost their eighth wicket for 423.
The dismissal came in the 106th over of Australia’s first innings and fourth over of the day. Bumrah bowled a full-length ball on the fifth stump line. Starc tried to push the ball through the offside but got a faint edge to wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant who completed a regulation catch.

With the dismissal, Bumrah extended his wicket tally for the series to 18, including two fifers. Other Indian bowlers have managed just 17 wickets in the BGT 2024-25 so far.
“Chalk and cheese” – Ravi Shastri reckons India bowling unit solely dependent on Jasprit Bumrah
Former India head coach Ravi Shastri has said the Indian bowling unit depends entirely on Jasprit Bumrah. He told Fox Sports on Day 2:
“The difference between he [Bumrah] and the other Indian bowlers is like chalk and cheese when you look at their success and their strike rates.”
Travis Head and Steve Smith smashed 152 and 101 runs, respectively, on Day 2. The duo put on a 241-run partnership for the fourth wicket.
At the time of writing, the hosts were 435/8, with Alex Carey and Nathan Lyon at the crease. Mohammed Siraj and Nitish Kumar Reddy have bagged one wicket apiece.
The five-game series is tied at 1-1. India won the series opener by 295 runs in Perth before Australia staged a fightback with a 10-wicket victory in the second Test in Adelaide. The Aussies are searching for their first Test series win over India since 2014-15.
