[Watch] Jasprit Bumrah removes both openers early on Day 2 of BGT 2024-25 3rd Test
Team India pacer Jasprit Bumrah delivered double breakthroughs, removing Australian openers Usman Khawaja and Nathan McSweeney on Day 2 (Sunday, December 15) of the third Test of the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy at the Gabba, Brisbane. Play resumed early, with the opening day of the encounter being curtailed due to rain.
Electing to bowl first, Team India could only manage 13.2 overs in the conditions on offer as the heavens opened up. It was assumed to be a shorter break, but due to persistent showers, the game had a stop-start and was eventually called off.
With 98 overs to be bowled, Team India's vice-captain Jasprit Bumrah was handed the ball and he started off nicely with a two-run over. In the second over bowled by him today, Bumrah kept one delivery outside the off stump and forced Usman Khawaja into playing a shot, which resulted in a nick that carried behind to Rishabh Pant, resulting in the first wicket of the day.

In his third over of the day, Bumrah would come back to dismiss Khawaja's partner Nathan McSweeney as well. On the third ball of the 18th over, McSweeney looked to defend the ball off his backfoot but got a thick edge behind in the slips, where Virat Kohli held onto the catch and sent the opener packing back to the hut.
