[Watch] Jasprit Bumrah strikes early again to dismiss Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne on Day 5 of BGT 2024-25 3rd Test

Team India's pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah struck with the new ball on Day 5 (Wednesday, December 18) of the third Border-Gavaskar series Test against Australia at The Gabba in Brisbane. The right-arm speedster got the better of Usman Khawaja and Marnus Labuschagne cheaply to keep Australia from getting away as they did in the first innings.

Khawaja's dismissal came in only the third over of the innings as the right-arm pacer lured a drive from the left-hander. The ball took the edge of the pad and hit the top of the off stump, forcing the 38-year-old to depart after hitting two boundaries. Meanwhile, Labuschagne made only one run before going for a loose cut shot outside off-stump. The ball took the edge and flew to Rishabh Pant, who completed a simple catch behind the stumps.

Both Khawaja and Labuschagne played a vital role in bunting the new ball in the opening innings in Brisbane but could not make a big score. The former's form has been particularly poor in this series.

Meanwhile, the Ahmedabad-born speedster has now taken 52 wickets in Australia, surpassing former skipper Kapil Dev's tally of 51 Down Under, making him the highest wicket-taker in the country. It is also the most wickets taken by any Indian bowler in any country outside of home.

Bumrah has been a nemesis for Australia from the outset in this series and has now taken 20 wickets in just over two Tests. He started the series with a five-wicket haul in the first innings in Perth and added three more in the second innings there to claim the Player of the Match award, as India won by 295 runs.

The 31-year-old snared four scalps in Adelaide and took six in the first dig in Brisbane. He is likely to end the series as the highest wicket-taker.
