[Watch] Jasprit Bumrah strikes early as India take brilliant review to dismiss Nathan McSweeney in 1st IND vs AUS BGT 2024-25 Test
India's stand-in-captain Jasprit Bumrah led from the front as the tourists took a smart review to get rid of Australian debutant Nathan McSweeney on Day 1 of the first Test in Perth on Friday, November 22. The right-handed batter walked back for 10 runs off 13 balls as the hosts lost their first wicket for 14 runs.
The dismissal came in the third over of Australia’s first innings. Bumrah bowled a fuller-length ball around the fifth stump line which seamed in with the angle after pitching. McSweeney’s bat was nowhere near the ball as he was found plumb in front of the stumps. The on-field umpire gave it out but Bumrah looked confident and took the review.
The pinpoint review despite contrasting reactions from Rishabh Pant (doubting about the bat’s edge) and Virat Kohli (nodding with a yes). The replays showed the ball would have hit the stumps as the on-field decision was overturned.

Nathan McSweeney was picked in the senior squad after guiding Australia A to a 2-0 whitewash over India A. The 25-year-old returned with scores of 39, 88*, 14, and 25 in his four outings.
McSweeney was included in the playing XI as an opener as Steve Smith has returned to his No. 4 spot. It’s worth mentioning that David Warner announced his retirement earlier this year.
Australia restrict Jasprit Bumrah and company for 150 in 1st innings
A clinical bowling display helped Australia bundle out Jasprit Bumrah-led India for 150 in 49.4 overs on Day 1. Josh Hazlewood starred with the ball, returning with figures of 4/29, while Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, and Mitchell Marsh picked up two wickets apiece.
Debutant Nitish Reddy top-scored for the visitors, scoring 41 off 59. Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul also chipped in with 37 (78) and 26 (74), respectively.
In response, the hosts were 19/3 at the time of writing, with Marnus Labuschagne at the crease. Jasprit Bumrah has scalped all three wickets so far.
