[Watch] Jasprit Bumrah uproots middle stump to dismiss Mushfiqur Rahim in IND vs BAN 2024 2nd TestÂ
Team India pacer Jasprit Bumrah dished out his trademark slower delivery in the final ball before Lunch to end Bangladesh's second innings on Day 5 of the second Test in Green Park in Kanpur on Tuesday, October 1. The clever variation outfoxed Mushfiqur Rahim as the visitors folded out for 146 runs, losing eight wickets in a session.
The veteran batter was frustrating Team India with his resilience after Bangladesh were reduced to nine down. The first session was extended after Bumrah dismissed Taijul Islam in the 41st over, but Mushfiqur stood strong with tail-ender Khaled Ahmed at the other end.
He ended up ruining all of his hard work by going for an uncharacteristic slog down the ground off the last delivery of the session. He made no contact with Bumrah's off-cutter which came into the right-hander after pitching and hit the middle stump to upoot it from the ground entirely.
Have a look at the dismissal right here:
Bumrah picked up all of the last three wickets to end with figures of 3-17 off 10 overs. He had picked up three wickets in the first innings too.
Mushfiqur Rahim had to depart after scoring 37 off 63 deliveries. He was the second-highest scorer for Bangladesh in the innings after Shadman Islam's fighting half-century. It was the third time Mushfiqur was dismissed by Bumrah in the two-match Test series.
India need 95 runs to win after Bumrah ends Bangladesh's innings
Taking India's lead at the end of the first innings, Bangladesh's 146-run effort has handed the hosts a target of 95 runs.
Rohit Sharma and company have two full sessions to chase the score down to win the series by a 2-0 margin and continue their dominance in the World Test Championship (WTC) cycle.
Bangladesh were placed relatively solid at 91-3. However, Ravindra Jadeja's introduction into the attack changed the course of the innings. The left-arm spinner struck straightaway to dismiss skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto, and the visitors collapsed to 94-7 in quick time.
