[Watch] Jayden Seales sends Tony de Zorzi's off-stump cartwheeling on day 1 of WI vs SA 2nd Test
West Indies' new-ball bowler Jayden Seales sent Tony de Zorzi's off-stump cartwheeling in the ongoing day 1 of the second Test against South Africa at Providence Stadium in Guyana. The right-arm pacer dismissed the left-hander cheaply as the Proteas elected to bat first after winning the toss.
The incident occurred in the fourth over of the innings as the ball jagged back from a length ball outside off. De Zorzi took a stride forward and tried to defend, but the ball sneaked right through leaving the stumps in a mess. The 22-year-old inevitably wheeled away in celebration.
The Caribbeans carried out one change from the drawn Test at the Port of Spain in Trinidad, bringing in Shamar Joseph for Kemar Roach. The Proteas have also carried out one change as they dropped a seamer in Lungi Ngidi for a spinner in Dane Piedt.
Jayden Seales finished with 3 wickets in the first Test in Trinidad
Meanwhile, the right-arm speedster was the pick of the bowlers for the West Indies in the first innings of the opening Test at Trinidad with figures of 24.4-5-67-3 to skittle South Africa for 357. Seales also scored a brisk 32-ball 35 to limit the Proteas' lead to 124.
However, his figures in the 2nd innings was 7-0-44-0 as De Zorzi, Aiden Markram, and Tristan Stubbs teed off on the home side's bowlers to set 298 to win. While South Africa did get early wickets, rain for the majority of the Test meant they didn't have enough time to force a win.
Alick Athanaze scored a smooth 92 to steer the hosts to a draw. West Indies and South Africa will also lock horns in three T20Is following the Test series. The two sides had already played three T20Is before the T20 World Cup where the Proteas made it to the final for the first time.
