[Watch] Jaydev Unadkat uproots Sam Northeast’s middle stump in SUS vs GLM 2024 County Championship match 

Sussex seamer Jaydev Unadkat castled Glamorgan captain Sam Northeast on Day 1 of their 2024 County Championship match on Monday, September 9. The match is being played at the County Ground, Hove.

The dismissal took place on the first ball of the sixth over. Left-arm seamer Unadkat bowled a full delivery on the off-stump, tempting the batter to play a forward press. The ball nipped back and went through the large gap between the bat and pad to hit the middle stump and dislodge it.

Glamorgan captain Northeast had a poor outing, scoring nine off 18 balls. Northeast’s wicket left his side at 19/2 after 5.1 overs.

Unadkat delivered a standout performance, taking four wickets for 52 runs in his 15-over spell. Kiran Carlson top-scored for Glamorgan with 56 as they were all out for 184 in 57.3 overs, with Unadkat spearheading Sussex’s bowling attack.

In response, Sussex were in a strong position at stumps on Day 1, having reached 121/1 after 36 overs. Tom Haines scored 48 off 98 balls with the aid of seven boundaries, while Daniel Hughes (57*) and Henry Crocombe (11*) remained unbeaten at the crease.


Jaydev Unadkat has represented India in 4 Tests

Jaydev Unadkat made his Test debut for India in a 2010 match against South Africa. His most recent appearance was in 2023 against the West Indies, where he went wicketless. The left-arm pacer has played in four Test matches, taking three wickets.

The 32-year-old has also represented India in eight ODIs for India, claiming nine wickets. His last match was against the West Indies in August 2023. Additionally, Unadkat has featured in 10 T20Is, taking 14 wickets.

The left-arm pacer will aim to make a comeback to the Indian team by delivering standout performances in the County Championship.
