[Watch] Jemimah Rodrigues, Shikha Pandey, and mentor Jhulan Goswami join Knight Riders ahead of Women’s CPL 2024
Indian players Jemimah Rodrigues and Shikha Pandey, alongside mentor Jhulan Goswami, have joined the Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) ahead of the Women’s Caribbean Premier League 2024. The new season will commence on August 21, with the final game scheduled for August 29.
Trinbago Knight Riders Women will start their campaign on Thursday, August 22, against defending champions Barbados Royals Women. Deandra Dottin will lead the side, which also boasts two overseas players, Meg Lanning and Jess Jonassen, apart from the Indian internationals.
On Monday, August 19, the X account of Trinbago Knight Riders shared a video confirming the arrival of the Indian internationals to the Caribbean. They captioned the post:
“The Knight Riders from India have arrived!”
Jhulan Goswami, who retired from all forms of the game in 2022, will be the mentor for the Knight Riders this season. Goswami is the Women in Blue’s leading wicket-taker in international cricket (355). The speedster is also the bowling coach and mentor of the Mumbai Indians in the Women’s Premier League.
Meanwhile, Jemimah Rodrigues was last seen in action during the Women’s Asia Cup final, in which the Women in Blue lost to Sri Lanka.
Jemimah has a wealth of experience in T20 cricket, having played 100 matches for her country. She has scored 2,074 runs, including 11 fifties. The Indian is also a brilliant fielder, can bowl off-spin, and has experience playing in foreign leagues, including the Big Bash and The Hundred.
Shikha Pandey has taken 43 wickets in 62 T20Is for India. The 35-year-old took nine wickets for the Delhi Capitals in WPL 2024.
