[Watch] Jofra Archer knocks off middle stump to dismiss Travis Head in AUS vs ENG T20 World Cup
Ace pacer Jofra Archer bowled a slower one to outfox dangerous-looking Travis Head in the T20 World Cup match between Australia and defending champions England in Barbados on Saturday (June 8). Head departed for 34 runs off 18 balls, including three sixes and two fours. He also shared a 70-run partnership with David Warner for the opening wicket.
The dismissal came in the sixth over of Australia’s innings. Archer rolled his fingers across the seam on a good length delivery around off and Head backed away while looking to go over the off-side. The left-hander was beaten by the pace and the ball hit the middle and leg stumps. It uprooted the middle stump, leaving everyone in awe. Archer looked delighted with the prized wicket.
Head recently amassed 567 runs in 15 matches in IPL 2024 at a strike rate of 191.55, including a century and four fifties. He will look to deliver for the Aussies in the mega ICC event.
Meanwhile, Archer recently made his international comeback after more than a year-long hiatus. He scalped three wickets in T20Is against Pakistan.
“He has a trick up his sleeve” – When Jos Butter lauded Jofra Archer on his T20 World Cup comeback
England captain Jos Buttler recently expressed his excitement as Jofra Archer made his comeback ahead of the T20 World Cup. The wicketkeeper-batter called him his go-to bowler ahead of the mega ICC event. He, however, asked the fans to keep unnecessary expectations aside (via UK Press Association):
“It's a huge encouragement for him to be back and see him ready to play. Everyone knows what he is capable of and the attitude he possesses. As a captain, he is someone you can always turn to in a game because he always has a trick up his sleeve.
"It's great to be able to call on him, but it's important to manage expectations. He has been out of it for a while now, so we will need to look after him and realize that it might just take him a little while to be the Jofra of 2019."
