[Watch] K Srikkanth does 'Bhangra'; roasts Matthew Hayden after PBKS' record win over KKR in IPL 2024
Former Indian cricketer K Srikkanth is known for his comic timing and sense of humor, and it was on display when Punjab Kings (PBKS) beat the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Eden Gardens in Match 42 of IPL 2024 on Friday, April 26.
Celebrating Punjab's epic win on Star Sports, Srikkanth was seen entering the post-match show doing 'Bhangra', a folk dance that's famous in Punjab. The World Cup winner had predicted that PBKS would win the game against KKR.
In the video, K Srikkanth is also seen taking a dig at Matthew Hayden as the former Australian opener had apparently teased him when Punjab had a mammoth 262 runs to chase.
Here's the video:
Punjab's 262/2 in 18.4 overs is the highest successful chase in the entire history of T20 cricket, going past the 259 that South Africa had managed against the West Indies.
Shashank Singh on PBKS' mindset after beating KKR
Shashank Singh remained unbeaten on a staggering 68* off just 28 balls and added 84 runs with Jonny Bairstow as PBKS got over the line comfortably. The Punjab all-rounder has been in sensational form this season and played yet another blinder down the order.
In a video posted by the IPL, here's what Shashank had to say about Punjab Kings' mindset in the chase:
"The vibe was positive in the dressing room, we had so much believe that we were not under any pressure at all. Kolkata is a six hitting ground and obviously both teams batted well. I am batting well, I am hitting sixes, I hope I can continue like this but more important is for the team to win."
Bairstow won the Player of the Match award for his 108* off just 48 balls. The fact that 262 was chased with ease makes one wonder what total is safe on good pitches in modern-day T20s.
