[Watch] Kagiso Rabada has his bat broken by a Lahiru Kumara delivery in SA vs SL 2024 2nd Test
The second Test between South Africa and Sri Lanka in Gqeberha witnessed a Lahiru Kumara delivery breaking Kagiso Rabada's bat, leaving everyone in splits. Choosing to bat first, the Proteas got a decent total (358) on board, thanks to centuries from Ryan Rickelton (101) and Kyle Verreynne (105).
Skipper Temba Bavuma played a great hand, scoring 78 runs off 109 balls. Rabada also chipped in with a valuable contribution towards the end of the innings, scoring 23 crucial runs off 40 deliveries. Early into his innings, the South Africa speedster was taken aback by a cracking delivery.
Kumara hit the deck hard and the ball traveled fast as Rabada tried to push hard at defense from the backfoot. However, the ball hit the top of his bat and the handle broke, leaving everyone in shock.

Lahiru Kumara picked up four wickets, while Asitha Fernando and Vishwa Fernando scalped three and two wickets, respectively.
Sri Lanka are off to a strong start in response to South Africa first innings total
In reply to South Africa's 350+ total, the Lankan side got off to a decent start, adding 41 runs for the first wicket. Although Dimuth Karunaratne failed to convert the start, Pathum Nissanka scored a valuable 89 runs to keep his side in the hunt.
Dinesh Chandimal missed his half-century by six runs before Angelo Matthews and Kamindu Mendis added 57 runs for the fourth wicket to see the day through. Kagiso Rabada, Keshav Maharaj, and Dane Paterson picked up one wicket apiece.
At the end of Day 2, Sri Lanka are well-placed at 242/3 with Matthews (40*) and Mendis (30*) in the middle.
South Africa won the opening Test by a mammoth 233 runs in Durban to take an unassailable 1-0 lead in the two-match series.
