[Watch] Kagiso Rabada gets run-out in the final over as PBKS suffer a heartbreaking loss in IPL 2024 clash vs MI
Punjab Kings (PBKS) lower-order batter Kagiso Rabada got run out in the final over of the IPL 2024 match against Mumbai Indians (MI) on Thursday. It resulted in a heartbreaking nine-run loss for PBKS at their home ground in Mullanpur.
Ahead of the last over of the match, Punjab needed 12 runs from the final with their last batting pair of Kagiso Rabada and Harshal Patel at the crease. MI pacer Akash Madhwal tried a wide yorker on the offside and ended up delivering a wide on the first ball.
He tried it again on the next ball and succeeded. Rabada could only push the ball to the deep point region and decided to come back for a second run. It eventually proved to be a misjudgment as wicket-keeper Ishan Kishan dislodged the bails just before Kagiso Rabada entered the crease.

PBKS batter Ashutosh Sharma's blazing 61 gave a massive scare to MI in IPL 2024 clash on Thursday
MI batted first and scored a decent total of 192/7 in 20 overs on the back of handy knocks from Suryakumar Yadav (78), Rohit Sharma (36), and Tilak Varma (34*). Hardik Pandya and Tim David provided finishing touches in the end with mini cameos.
Jasprit Bumrah and Gerald Coetzee then picked up two wickets each to reduce PBKS to 14/4 in just 2.1 overs. Shashank Singh kept them afloat for a while with a knock of 41 (25). However, he departed in the 13th over against a clever slower delivery from Jasprit Bumrah.
Ashutosh Sharma then went on a carnage, hitting the MI bowlers all around the park en route to 61 (28) and continued to impress everyone. After bringing PBKS closer to the win, he departed in the 18th over without finishing the match.
Kagiso Rabada hit a six off his first ball and tried to take his side home. But he, unfortunately, got run out in the final over as PBKS lost the IPL 2024 match narrowly.
