[Watch] Kamran Ghulam writes his name on honors board at Multan Stadium after Day 1 of PAK vs ENG 2024 2nd Test

Pakistan's newest batting sensation Kamran Ghulam was seen writing his name on the honors board of the Multan Cricket Stadium after his heroics on Day 1 of the second Test against England. A video of the same was shared by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on X.

Having scored 4,000 first-class runs, the 29-year-old made his Test debut in Multan and thrived on the expectations. Batting at No.4, the right-hander scored a gritty hundred, holding Pakistan's innings together on a tricky surface.

With the hosts losing Abdullah Shafique and Shan Masood early, Ghulam dug in along with Saim Ayub. The two shared a century stand as Pakistan finished the day with a respectable 259-5. The centurion eventually fell for 118 to off-spinner Shoaib Bashir. With Mohammad Rizwan and Salman Agha at the crease, Pakistan will hope to go past the 350 mark.

The all-rounder revealed that he never gave up despite missing out on his international debut numerous times after coming close. With Pakistan losing two quick wickets, he came out with a positive mindset, just as he does in first-class cricket. Ghulam said (via Cricinfo):

"I'd been waiting for my chance a long time but I never gave up. I had been waiting for my chance. That's all I thought about. I kept being selected and then omitted from squads, and all I used to think about was how to take the chance I'd been given."
"When I came to the wicket we'd lost two wickets. But I wanted to play with a positive mind like I do in first-class cricket. That was at the back of my mind, and I wanted to play my natural game."

The hosts trail 1-0 in the series after losing the first Test by an innings and 47 runs and will be desperate to get back on level terms.
