[Watch] Kieron Pollard gives the crowd a sarcastic stare after completing catch during 2024 Hundred clash
There is always action when West Indian all-rounder Kieron Pollard is on show and it was no different when his Southern Brave took on Welsh Fire at Cardiff on Monday, August 5. With the contest outcome effectively sealed, Pollard had some fun with the home crowd in what turned out to be the final over of the game.
With Welsh Fire eight down and needing an improbable 47 off 10 deliveries, David Willey skied a full ball from left-arm pacer Tymal Mills down to the long-on region. Pollard, stationed there, took a comfortable catch running in and turned to the crowd for a sarcastic stare at the section that seemingly wanted him to drop the catch to have the possibility of a close finish intact.
Here is a video of Pollard's catch and his subsequent reaction to the crowd:
Mills picked up the final Welsh Fire wicket on the final ball of the same over to finish the deal and help Southern Brave complete a 42-run victory.
Southern Brave scored 139/5 in their 100 deliveries with Pollard contributing a quick-fire 17 off 12 with the aid of two maximums. The 37-year-old has been in sensational form in the 2024 Hundred season, averaging 46 and boasting a strike rate of 164.28 in four matches.
Southern Brave skipper James Vince led the way with a breathtaking 73* off 50, following which the bowlers produced an admirable effort to bowl Welsh Fire for 97.
While Mills finished with four wickets, Danny Briggs and Chris Jordan picked up three and two wickets, respectively.
