[Watch] Kieron Pollard's devastating pull-shot six off Haris Rauf scares commentator during The Hundred 2024
Southern Brave veteran Kieron Pollard gave a commentator a major scare with his thumping pull-shot six off Haris Rauf in The Hundred 2024 clash against the Welsh Fire. The match was played at the Sophia Gardens in Cardiff on Monday, August 5.
Pollard came in at No. 5 for the finishing act as the top order managed to cross the 100-run mark in 75 deliveries in the first innings. He was slow to get off the blocks, scoring three runs off his first five deliveries, but got a boost after taking on Haris Rauf.
The right-arm pacer bowled a fiery bouncer which Pollard swiveled and hit towards the vacant fine leg region. The ball hit the advertisement board right in front of the Sky Sports commentary pod beside the boundary line.
Commentator Robert Croft was alarmed by the ball traveling towards the broadcast team and was downright spooked when it clanged onto the advertisement board. He mentioned on-air that he was looking at the screen rather than the ball, and asked why his colleagues did not warn him.

After being pulled for a six by Pollard, Rauf eventually got revenge the next time he took the ball. The Pakistani pacer got the better of Pollard in the first ball of his final set with a slower delivery. The Caribbean ace tried to clear the long boundary but found the fielder at deep mid-wicket instead.
Southern Brave emerged victors by a comfortable 42-run margin as the Welsh Fire struggled in their run chase. David Willey was the sole batter who crossed the 20-run mark as the Southern Brave bowlers were on point.
The James Vince-led side are now placed at the top of the table following their fourth win of the season while Welsh Fire are ranked fifth.
