[Watch] Kieron Pollard smacks five consecutive sixes off Rashid Khan in SB vs TR game in The Hundred 2024

Southern Brave all-rounder Kieron Pollard took Afghanistan and Trent Rockets' spin-wizard Rashid Khan to the cleaners in The Hundred 2024 fixture on Saturday at the Rose Bowl in Southampton. The former West Indies captain smacked the leggie for five consecutive sixes.

The incident occurred when the Brave required a tricky 49 runs off 20 deliveries in pursuit of 127 in 100 balls. Rashid had figures of 1/10 in 15 deliveries, but Pollard ruined it. The Trinidadian sent the first two balls over cow corner and long-off region. The third delivery went over Rashid's head, followed by another over deep mid-wicket. The final one was again over long-off as the equation came down to 19 off 15 deliveries.

Pollard lost his wicket shortly after, but the Brave crossed the line with a ball to spare. Earlier, Tom Banton top-scored with 30 to lift the Rockets to 126/8.

Pollard, who smacked 45 off 23 deliveries, revealed that he has played a lot against the Afghan cricketer and knew what he had to do to get runs off him. He said in the post-match presentation:

"Played a lot against him. He has got me out on a lot of times; had to see what was happening, but I knew the sort of lines and lengths he is gonna bowl, and just backed myself if he bowls short I'm gonna go across, and if he comes full and I'm gonna back my strength which is to hit straight. He bowl three fuller balls and it was right into my arc, so I couldn't stop at that point of time. I had to get maximum. But again Rashid is a world class bowler...played a lot against each other."

Southern Brave are currenlty second in the points table with five wins and two defeats. The Rockets, meanwhile, are fourth with three wins in six matches.
