MI New York (MINY) captain Kieron Pollard turned back the clock by smashing a hat-trick of sixes against Los Angeles Knight Riders (LAKR) in the Major League Cricket (MLC) 2024 match at Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas on Sunday, July 21. The right-handed batter stayed unbeaten on 33 runs off 12 balls with the help of three sixes and two boundaries to take his team over the line.
Pollard smashed three consecutive sixes off Spencer Johnson in the 15th over of MI New York’s chase. He struck the third ball over the bowler’s head before depositing the other maximums towards square leg and mid-wicket.

With his match-winning knock, Kieron Pollard returned to form after managing single-digit scores in his last four outings. In the match, he also the prized wicket of Andre Russell off the only delivery he bowled.
Kieron Pollard’s MI New York beat LA Knight Riders by 4 wickets to reach MLC 2024 knockouts
A clinical all-round performance helped MI New York beat LA Knight Riders by four wickets in a low-scoring affair on Sunday.
Asked to bat first, LAKR were bundled out for 130 in 19.1 overs. Russell top scored with 35 off 21 deliveries, a knock laced with one maximum and six boundaries. Jason Roy also chipped in with 27 off 23, while Nitish Kumar and Spencer Johnson were the other batters to reach double digits.
Rashid Khan was the pick of the lot for MINY, returning with exceptional figures of 3/22, while Trent Boult and Nosthush Kenjige bagged two wickets each.
In response, MINY chased down the target with three overs to spare. Apart from Kieron Pollard, Nicholas Pooran and Dewald Brevis chipped in with scores of 35 (28) and 27 (19), respectively.
LAKR captain Sunil Narine picked up two wickets, while Spencer Johnson, Come Dry, Andre Russell and Ali Khan took one apiece.
With the win, MINY qualified for the knockout matches, while LAKR were eliminated from the top four.
Kieron Pollard and company will next lock horns with Faf Du Plessis' Texas Super Kings at the same venue on Wednesday, July 24.
