[Watch] KL Rahul back in training after an injury scare ahead of Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 1st Test
Team India batter KL Rahul returned to training with the team on Sunday, November 17, after an injury scare. Team India are currently training at the WACA Stadium in Perth ahead of the first Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy on November 22.
KL Rahul was flown to Australia alongside wicketkeeper batter Dhruv Jurel to represent India A in the second unofficial Test against Australia A. He had poor returns in that outing, scoring 4 and 10 in the two innings.
Ahead of the first Test, KL Rahul opened alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal in the intra-squad simulation matches. Facing Prasidh Krishna, the 32-year-old copped a blow on his elbow against a rising delivery and was rushed off the field for treatment.
Upon running scans, the physios found that it was merely a scare and only a matter of controlling the pain. In a video released by BCCI's official handle on X, KL Rahul said:
" I got a bad hit on Day 1 of the game. I'm feeling good and getting ready for the first game. Was happy that I could come here early and get some time to get used to the conditions and got a lot of time to prepare for the series. Excited and looking forward to it."

KL Rahul's position is up for question ahead of the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 1st Test
The team management could have a tough time deciding where KL Rahul bats owing to the possible absence of Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill. While Rohit Sharma is still in India following the birth of his second child, Shubman Gill was hurt while attempting a catch in the slips during the intra-squad simulation matches. He has been ruled out of the first game.
KL Rahul has opened in Australia, while also playing at number three and number six Down Under. It will be interesting to see where he bats in the first Test for Team India, who will be eyeing their third consecutive Test series win in Australia.
