[Watch] KL Rahul dismissed for 12 runs on the stroke of Tea on Day 4 of 1st IND vs NZ 2024 Test

Team India batter KL Rahul endured yet another forgettable outing on his home ground after scoring only 12 runs, before being dismissed by William O'Rourke in the first Test against New Zealand. The dismissal ended the second session on Day 4 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Rahul came into the crease after the long-standing partnership between Rishabh Pant and Sarfaraz Khan came to an end. India needed stability after Pant perished for 99 with only minutes remaining for the session's close. However, William O'Rourke managed to sneak in another breakthrough.

The right-arm pacer had troubled KL Rahul with a delivery that rose from a length just a delivery before. On that occasion, the batter had dealt with it quite well. However, a similar delivery to follow up, led to an edge as Rahul was trying to keep the bat away. The catch was taken safely by wicketkeeper Tom Blundell to bring New Zealand right back into the contest.

Have a look at the dismissal right here:

The dismissal leaves India at 438/6 after 90.2 overs at tea on Day 4. The hosts have a lead of 82 runs, and it will be the duo of Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin who will kickstart things with the bat in the final session.

KL Rahul was dismissed for a duck by William O'Rourke in the first innings

After being assigned to his designated No.6 position despite Shubman Gill's absence, Rahul departed scoring on his home ground in the first innings. On that occasion too, he edged a William O'Rourke delivery to the wicket-keeper.

After managing to retain his position in the playing XI for the Bangladesh series, the pressure is on KL Rahul after a poor set of outings. His spot is arguably under threat when Shubman Gill regains full fitness for the remainder of the series, coupled with the fact that Sarfaraz Khan just scored a sublime ton to make his case.
