KL Rahul and Virat Kohli shared the dressing room for Royal Challengers Bengaluru back in 2016. The two were a part of the team that played against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final that season and lost the match by a narrow margin of eight runs.

Speaking to Star Sports, KL Rahul mentioned that he and Virat still discuss about the game and said:

"Virat Kohli and I have spoken about the 2016 IPL Final so many times. Had one of us played a little longer, we would have won the IPL. It was a very special year. It would've been a fairytale ending at the Chinnaswamy, but unfortunately, that didn't happen."
"I enjoyed my time the most at RCB in 2016. It could've been a fairytale story. Bengaluru is my home, and people there know me as Kannada boy," Rahul added.

The 32-year-old enters into the auction after having been released by Lucknow Super Giants. Rahul is listed in the Marquee Players Set 2, with a base price of ₹2 crores and is expected to draw interest from the Bengaluru-based franchise, who are on the look for a skipper and a wicketkeeper batter.
