[Watch] KL Rahul survives despite getting out for a duck to Scott Boland in BGT 2024-25 2nd Test
Team India's opening batter KL Rahul was handed a major reprieve as his maiden pink-ball outing was narrowly close to ending on a duck. He edged Scott Boland's very first delivery to the wicket-keeper in the ongoing second Border-Gavaskar series Test at the Adelaide Oval on Friday, December 6, but the decision was reversed after the right-arm pacer was found to have overstepped.
KL Rahul, retained as an opening batter despite Rohit Sharma's return, was watchful against the swinging pink ball. Even after 18 deliveries at the crease, the right-handed batter could not get off the mark following Yashasvi Jaiswal's golden duck in the first over.
With Gill progressing smoothly along at the other end, the Australian pacers kept the pressure on KL Rahul, eventually introducing Scott Boland into the attack in the eighth over. The right-arm pacer, in his typical accurate fashion, pitched it on the line right on the fourth stump, forcing Rahul to have a poke at it.
The ball made contact with the bat after the extra bounce surprised KL Rahul, leading to a comfortable catch for Alex Carey behind the stumps. Australia celebrated their second breakthrough with the crowd as Rahul walked towards the pavilion. Virat Kohli had also made his way onto the ground before umpire Richard Illingworth signaled no-ball.

KL Rahul was dropped off Scott Boland's bowling in the same over
Scott Boland's introduction into the attack was an eventful over, beginning with the no-ball incident. After completing a double on the second ball of the over, Rahul finally got off the mark after 21 deliveries at the crease.
Boland managed to claim Rahul's edge on the penultimate ball of the over. The ball raced towards Usman Khawaja in the slip cordon but the veteran spilled the tricky opportunity to hand the batter yet another reprieve.
As of writing, India are placed at 36-1 after 11 overs, with Rahul unbeaten on nine runs off 32 deliveries.
