[Watch] Kuldeep Yadav strikes twice in quick succession during IND vs ENG 2024 T20 World Cup semisĀ
Team India spinner Kuldeep Yadav joined the party to be among the wickets in the ongoing 2024 T20 World Cup semi-final clash against England. The left-arm spinner trapped Sam Curran LBW in the ninth over to worsen England's crisis in the run chase at the Providence Stadium in Guyana on Thursday, June 27.
Kuldeep then dismissed Harry Brook and Chris Jordan as well to guide India closer to the win.
Kuldeep Yadav was introduced into the attack after the powerplay, and was tasked with bringing down the English middle order in the middle overs. The spinner conceded seven runs in his first over, and was handed the ball in the ninth over as well.
He trapped Sam Curran (2 off 4) off the first ball of the over. The left-handed batter failed to pick the wrong'un and was stuck in his crease when the ball spun back in and hit him straight him on his pads. He went for a review after the on-field umpire adjudged him out, but the DRS showed three reds, bringing his short stay at the crease to an end. Have a look at the dismissal right here:
England's score read 49-5 after 8.1 overs after Curran's dismissal. The all-rounder could only contribute two runs off four deliveries.
Kuldeep Yadav has been an excellent contributor to the team's cause ever since making it to the playing XI from the Super 8 stage. He has picked up seven wickets in three matches in the tournament so far, and is putting on a memorable display in the semi-final clash as well.
Kuldeep Yadav dismisses Harry Brook and Chris Jordan to wrap up his spell
The left-arm spinner was responsible for Team India's next set of breakthroughs as well. Another nail was added to England's coffin as the left-arm spinner castled Harry Brook in his third over.
Harry Brook had shown some intent and raced off to 25 runs in no time. He was arguably England's last hope to scale the mammoth total. The young batter had successfully scored a reverse sweep for a boundary off the third ball of the 11th over.
However, when he attempted the same shot on the very next ball, he found his stumps shattered. Kuldeep trapped Chris Jordan LBW in the 13th over to reduce England to 73-7 and finish with brilliant figures of 3-19.
