[Watch] Kwena Maphaka roars in celebration as his brilliant catch ends Mohammad Rizwan’s stay for 80 in SA vs PAK 2024 2nd ODI

South African strike bowler Kwena Maphaka roared after getting the better of Mohammad Rizwan in the second ODI against Pakistan at the Newlands in Cape Town. The Pakistan skipper was seemingly on his way to a century but was denied the same.

The dismissal occurred in the 36th over of the innings as Rizwan played a drive straight down the ground. The 18-year-old seamer was equally alert to it and crouched down to take the catch cleanly and roared, with the keeper-batter's knock at 80 off 82 balls.

It was also the second wicket for the left-arm seamer as he had earlier dismissed Saim Ayub for 25 in the 10th over and was looking dangerous after hitting five boundaries to kick off his innings.

The teenage prodigy, who made his debut in Cape Town, eventually finished with figures of 9.5-0-72-4, getting the better of Haris Rauf and Kamran Ghulam as well. Marco Jansen also snared three wickets, while Bjorn Fortuin and Andile Phehlukwayo chipped in with one scalp each.

Meanwhile, the 32-year-old's 82-ball 80 proved to be the top score in Cape Town. Babar Azam also contributed 73, while Ghulam cracked 63 off 32 deliveries. Salman Ali Agha chipped in with a handy 33 off 30 balls as Pakistan reached 329.

The visitors hold a 1-0 lead in the three-game series as they won a thriller by seven wickets in Paarl. Saim Ayub (109) and Salman (82) starred in their victory as Pakistan chased 240 with three balls to spare. The Proteas won the preceding three-game T20I series by 2-0.

Pakistan and South Africa will also lock horns in two Tests. However, the home side face a challenge in the second ODI to level the series.
