[Watch] “Let’s go” - Pat Cummins returns to training as he gears up for Border-Gavaskar Trophy

Australia's Test and ODI captain Pat Cummins has shared a video of himself bowling in the nets as he prepares for an important summer. Cummins is not part of the ongoing white-ball tour against England; he was rested as part of a pre-planned, long-term load management strategy.

The 31-year-old was last seen competing in Major League Cricket, where he played for the San Francisco Unicorns, who lost to Washington Freedom by 96 runs in the final.

On Wednesday, September 25, the pacer returned to training and shared a video on Instagram, captioning it:

“Getting ready for a huge summer. First few bowls back after a pre-season break. Let’s go.”

Australia will host Pakistan for a three-match ODI and T20I series beginning November 4, ahead of the important five-match Border-Gavaskar Test series against India. The first Test is scheduled to start on November 22 in Perth.

“This is the one trophy a lot of our group haven’t ticked off” - Pat Cummins on BGT

Pat Cummins has set his sights on winning the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, a series Australia haven’t won since India's 2014-15 tour Down Under. The Men in Blue have won their last two series on Australian soil and will be looking to make it three.

In an interview with Fox Cricket, Cummins mentioned that while several Australian players are yet to win the trophy, he’s confident they will turn the tide this time. He said:

"It’s the trophy I haven’t won before … this is the one trophy a lot of our group haven’t ticked off. We’ve achieved some amazing things over the last few years as a Test group. You kind of back yourself to win every series at home. I think you need to to try and be up there in the upper echelon of teams. That’s what lies ahead of us this summer."
"They’re a really good side. We play them quite a lot, we know them really well, but we feel like we’re really well placed also," Cummins added.

India and Australia are currently ranked as the top two teams in the ICC World Test Championship standings.
