[Watch] Leus du Plooy hits out-of-the-ground six off Haris Rauf in The Hundred

Southern Brave batter Leus du Plooy sent the ball outside of the ground with his sensational six off Haris Rauf in The Hundred against Welsh Fire at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff on Monday, August 5. The 93m six reportedly landed on the river Taff, as per ESPNcricinfo.

The monstrous hit came on the 44th ball of Brave’s innings. Rauf bowled a low full-toss outside off and Plooy nailed it straight down the ground as the ball went out of the stadium.

Leus du Plooy scored 21 runs off 13 balls with the help of two sixes and a boundary. Meanwhile, Rauf conceded two sixes but finished with impressive figures of 2/22 in his 20 balls, which also included the prized scalp of Kieron Pollard. With that, the Pakistani pacer has stretched his wickets tally to seven in just three games in the tournament.


Southern Brave set a 140-run target for Welsh Fire in The Hundred

A clinical batting display from captain James Vince helped Southern Brave post 139/5 against Welsh Fire in The Hundred match on Monday. Vince starred with the bat, scoring 73* off 50 balls, an innings laced with three sixes and seven boundaries. Meanwhile, Leus du Plooy (21) Kieron Pollard (17) and Alex Davies (16) also chipped in with their contributions.

Apart from Haris Rauf, Matt Henry, David Payne, and Luke Wells bagged one wicket apiece for Welsh Fire.

Rauf explained how he bounced back after getting hit in his initial deliveries and backed his team to achieve the target. The speedster said in the mid-match show (via Cricbuzz):

"The hard length is working, so try to hit that. One side is the big side, so used that boundary, used the variation and it worked. We have a good batting side and I hope we chase it."

Second-placed Southern Brave currently have three wins in four games, while Welsh Fire are fifth with two wins in four matches.

The Brave will next take on Oval Invincibles at Kennington Oval in London on Thursday, August 8. Meanwhile, Welsh Fire will lock horns with Northern Superchargers in Cardiff on the same day.
