[Watch] Lizelle Lee blasts unbeaten 150 in WBBL 2024, setting record for highest individual score in tournament's history

Hobart Hurricanes Women opener Lizelle Lee has broken the record for the highest individual score in Women's Big Bash League history. The South African cricketer set the new benchmark during the 21st match of the 2024 season against Perth Scorchers Women on Sunday, November 10, at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

The Hurricanes got off to a rocky start, losing two wickets within the first three overs. However, Lee played a sensational innings, bringing up her fifty in just 29 balls. The powerful opener didn’t slow down, blasting another 50 runs off just 22 more balls to bring up her century in 51 balls.

In the 19th over, Lee broke Grace Harris' record of 136 runs, setting a new mark for the most runs in a single innings in WBBL history. The 32-year-old finished a remarkable knock of 150* off 75 balls, which included 12 fours and 12 sixes—the most by any player in a single WBBL innings.

Led by Lee's spectacular innings, the Hobart Hurricanes finished with 203/3 in their 20 overs. Chloe Ainsworth was the pick of the bowlers for the Scorchers, taking two wickets for only 17 runs in her four-over spell.

In response, the Perth Scorchers got off to a disastrous start, losing captain Sophie Devine on the first ball. Two deliveries later, Chloe Piparo was run out for a duck. Indian international Dayalan Hemalatha also failed to make an impact, dismissed for just eight off 10 balls.

Beth Mooney contributed 30 off 21 balls, including two fours and a six, while Chloe Ainsworth provided some late fireworks with 41 off 27 balls, featuring four fours and two sixes.

However, no other batter offered significant support, and the Scorchers were bowled out for 131 in 19.3 overs, falling short by 72 runs. Heather Graham was the standout bowler for the Hurricanes, taking three wickets.
