[Watch] “Love you” - Prithi Narayanan shares birthday post for husband Ravichandran Ashwin
Veteran Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin turned 38 on Tuesday, September 17. His wife Prithi Narayanan shared a heartwarming Instagram post, in which Ashwin can be seen enjoying family time with their daughters.
The Tamil Nadu spinner is gearing up for his return to the field, with the two-Test series against Bangladesh beginning on Thursday, September 19.
Ashwin’s most recent appearance was in the Tamil Nadu Premier League, where he led the Dindigul Dragons to the championship with his all-round prowess. His last international outing for India was earlier this year in a Test match against England in Dharamsala, where he took nine wickets.
On his birthday, Prithi Narayanan posted a video and a photo on Instagram, captioning it:
“Happy Birthday @rashwin99. May you always find joy in annoying our children. We love you!”
Ashwin, with 516 Test wickets, will play a crucial role for India in the home season, starting with the first game against the Bangla Tigers, scheduled for September 19 in his hometown of Chennai. The second game of the series will begin on September 27 in Kanpur.
India will then host New Zealand for a three-match Test series, where the off-spinner will aim to add to his tally.
“He should be treated as a champion” - Ravichandran Ashwin on Jasprit Bumrah
Veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin lauded Indian pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah while speaking to Vimal Kumar on the journalist's YouTube channel. Bumrah has emerged as India’s key bowler across formats and was honored as the Player of the Tournament in the 2024 T20 World Cup, where India clinched the title.
"We Chennai people appreciate bowlers a lot. He was here for an event as a chief guest 4-5 days ago. We gave him a Rajni treatment. We (Chennai people) treat bowlers very nicely. He should be treated as a champion. I don’t want to name, but Jasprit Bumrah is the most valuable Indian cricketer right now," Ravichandran Ashwin said.
Bumrah has played 195 matches for India across all formats, securing 397 wickets.
