[Watch] M Juned Khan takes his maiden first-class wicket as Ruturaj Gaikwad falls for 9 in 2024 Irani Cup

Mumbai pacer M Juned Khan claimed his maiden first-class wicket by dismissing Rest of India captain Ruturaj Gaikwad during their 2024 Irani Cup match on Day 3, Thursday, October 3. The game is being played at Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.

The dismissal occurred on the second ball of the 11th over. Juned bowled a good-length delivery that induced Gaikwad to push forward. The ball took an outside edge and was caught by Prithvi Shaw at second slip. Gaikwad scored 9 runs off 27 balls, including one boundary. His wicket left the Rest of India at 40/1 after 10.2 overs.

Sarfaraz Khan’s double ton helps Mumbai post a massive first-innings score

After being asked to bat first, Mumbai had a shaky start, losing Prithvi Shaw (4) and Hardik Tamore (0) in the third over. Shortly after, Ayush Mhatre was dismissed for 19 off 35 balls, becoming Mukesh Kumar’s third wicket.

Senior batter Ajinkya Rahane and Shreyas Iyer formed a crucial 102-run partnership for the fourth wicket before the latter was dismissed for a well-crafted 57 off 84 balls in a knock laced with six boundaries and two sixes.

Rahane received strong support from Sarfaraz Khan, and together they added 130 runs for the fifth wicket. Rahane fell just short of a century, scoring 97 off 234 balls. Sarfaraz then teamed up with Tanush Kotian, forging an impressive 183-run partnership for the seventh wicket, with Tanush contributing 64 off 124 balls, including six boundaries.

Sarfaraz delivered a stellar performance, notching his 15th first-class century. He finished unbeaten on 222 off 286 balls, striking 25 fours and four sixes, as Mumbai concluded their innings at 537. Mukesh Kumar was the standout bowler for the Rest of India, claiming five wickets.
