[Watch] Manav Suthar takes a diving boundary catch to remove Axar Patel for 86 in IND C vs IND D 2024 Duleep Trophy match

India C's Manav Suthar claimed an excellent catch by the boundary line to end Axar Patel's resistance in the clash against India D at Anantapur on Thursday, September 5. The dismissal ended the first innings for India D, who bundled out for a paltry 164 after being put into bat first by India C captain Ruturaj Gaikwad.

The bowlers ran riot with the new ball in the opening hour and reduced India D to 23/4 in the seventh over, following which Axar Patel came to the crease. The all-rounder was left stranded as he witnessed wickets tumbling from the other end.

The side were soon reduced to 76/8 and ran the risk of posting only a double-digit total. However, Axar showed his experience to guide his side past the 150-run mark with a half-century. He tried to keep going and stretching the total as much as possible. While embodying that approach, he took on off-spinner Hrithik Shokeen, trying to clear the square leg boundary.

However, Manav Suthar ran backwards and put in a full-length dive to claim the ball inches from the boundary rope. Have a look at the sensational catch right here:

Axar Patel departed after scoring 86 runs off 118 deliveries. His knock included six boundaries and as many maximums.

Axar Patel smashed Manav Suthar seven boundaries in the innings

The left-handed all-rounder gave Manav Suthar a tough time out in the middle. Out of his 12 boundaries, seven came off the spinner's bowling.

Axar Patel scored three boundaries off Suthar in the 39th over of the innings to bring up his fifty. He then slammed consecutive sixes in the Haryana spinner's next over as well.

Axar will be hoping to make a similar impact with the ball as well in the latter half of the day's play. The Shreyas Iyer-led side have made a good start to the proceedings, with Harshit Rana striking twice to dismiss opposition skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad and Sai Sudharsan with the new ball.

As of writing, India C are placed at 24/2 after 11 overs.
