South Africa all-rounder Marco Jansen hit a match-winning six off West Indies pacer Obed McCoy to take his team over the line in the 2024 T20 World Cup match in Antigua on Monday, June 24. The right-hander stayed unbeaten on 21 runs off 14 balls with the help of one six and a four to take the Proteas to the semifinals.
The stunning shot came in the last over of SA’s run chase, which was reduced to 17 overs via DLS method due to rain. McCoy bowled a full-length ball and Jansen went down the ground with a spectacular shot that sailed over the rope at long-on the fence.
The right-hander planted his front foot and swung through the line with enough power to clear the boundary. The Proteas fans and players were seen pumped up to celebrate the victory.

SA beat WI by 3 wickets in 2024 T20 World Cup Super 8 thriller to enter semifinals
South Africa beat West Indies by three wickets in the 2024 T20 World Cup Super-8 thriller. With the win, they also knocked out hosts WI from the tournament.
Chasing a revised target of 123, SA achieved the target with five balls to spare. Tristan Stubbs top scored with 29 off 27, including four fours. Heinrich Klaasen and captain Aiden Markram also chipped in with 22 (10) and 18 (15), respectively. Marco Jansen then stood tall as wickets continued to fall on the other end to take his team over the line.
Roston Chase put on a fighting display for WI, returning with figures of 3/12 in his three overs. Andre Russell and Alzarri Joseph also bagged two wickets apiece.
Asked to bat first, WI put up 135/8 in 20 overs. Chase slammed 52 off 42, with two sixes and three fours. Kyle Mayers also chipped in with 35 off 34, while Andre Russell and Alzarri Joseph chipped in with 15 (9) and 11* (7), respectively. Tabraiz Shamsi starred with the ball for SA, finishing with excellent figures of 3/27.
The two T20 World Cup semifinals will be played on June 27 (local time) in Trinidad and Guyana. The opponents will be locked following the last two Super 8 matches – India vs Australia and Afghanistan vs Bangladesh on June 24 (local time).
