[Watch] Mark Chapman takes a brilliant diving catch in the Lanka Premier League

New Zealand's Mark Chapman took a spectacular diving catch to dismiss Muhammad Waseem in the 20th match of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) on July 16. The final game of the league stage pitted the Dambulla Sixers against the Colombo Strikers.

Chasing a target of 126 runs, Muhammad Waseem went after Sixers' bowler, Nuwan Pradeep, as he got hit for two boundaries and a maximum in the first four balls of the second over. The right-handed batter went for a big hit again on the fifth ball that was angling into off-stump. However, he didn’t get hold of it as he tried to go over mid-on.

Chapman ran and judged it to perfection as he completed a stunning diving catch with both hands. Waseem’s wicket left his side at 16/2 after 1.5 overs.

Here’s the video of the catch:

The Dambulla Sixers bowlers were all over the Colombo Strikers; leading the way was Nuwan Pradeep, who took three wickets. All the Colombo batters had a tough time at the crease as they fell short by 28 runs.

Captain Thisara Perera (30 off 31 balls) fought hard but it wasn't enough as Dambulla ended their campaign on a high.

After being asked to bat first, Dambulla found themselves in deep trouble as they lost half of their side for 38 runs in 7.1 overs.

Captain Mohammad Nabi (40 off 33 balls) then stitched together a 62-run partnership with Chamindu Wickramasinghe, as the Sixers only managed to score 123 runs in their allotted 20 overs. Binura Fernando took three wickets for the Strikers.

Nabi took confidence from his innings and bowled a brilliant spell. He only conceded 11 runs in his four overs and took one wicket. A collective effort from the Dambulla Sixers meant they won their last game of the tournament.
