[Watch] MI bowlers secure a team hattrick during IPL 2024 clash vs LSG in Mumbai
Mumbai Indians (MI) secured a team hattrick during the IPL 2024 match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Friday at the Wankhede Stadium. It happened during the first innings at the end of the 17th and the start of the 18th over.
Slinging pace bowler Nuwan Thushara started things off on the fifth ball of the 17th over with a prized scalp of Nicholas Pooran. He then sent back Arshad Khan on the next ball to reduce LSG to 178/5. Leg-spinner Piyush Chawla came in next and dismissed Lucknow captain KL Rahul on the first ball of the 18th over to complete the team hattrick.

MI ended their IPL 2024 campaign with an 18-run loss against LSG
Mumbai Indians' journey under new captain, Hardik Pandya, got off to a disappointing start as they ended up last in the points table with just 8 points from 14 games. LSG beat MI by 18 runs in their final league match on Friday (May 17).
LSG batted first and scored a mammoth total of 214/6 on the back of contributions from Nicholas Pooran (75) and KL Rahul (55). MI then could only reach 196/6 in the chase as their batting unit failed to click in unison yet again.
Rohit Sharma (68) and Naman Dhir (62*) performed well, but their contributions ended in vain. Reflecting on their dismal IPL 2024 campaign after this match, MI skipper Hardik Pandya said:
"I mean it was quite difficult this season. We didn't play good quality cricket which eventually cost us the whole season. It's a professional world. There will be good and bad days but as professional cricketers, we have to do that but as a group we didn't play too well and it shows in the results. Too early to be pointing out what went wrong. Maybe get this game done and look forward for the upcoming season."
