[Watch] “Might be someone from RCB” - Ruturaj Gaikwad’s mic-drop moment at social event
Indian cricketer Ruturaj Gaikwad was recently seen attending a social event in Bengaluru, where he made a cheeky comment involving Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).
In an awkward and unwanted incident at the event, the microphone that Ruturaj was holding stopped working as he was about to speak. The presenter addressed the issue, stating that they could not make the mistake of switching off Ruturaj's mic.
Making the most of the situation, Gaikwad, who is also the captain of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), stated it might have been someone from RCB who switched off his mic.
"Might be someone from RCB," Ruturaj Gaikwad funnily stated.
As soon as Ruturaj Gaikwad commented, the crowd could be heard erupting in cheer as well.

It is well known to everyone that CSK and RCB share an intense rivalry in the IPL. Therefore, Gaikwad took advantage of the situation, with the event also being held in Bengaluru, perhaps cheekily taking a dig at their Southern rivals.
The last time the two sides met in IPL 2024, RCB edged out with a close and famous win at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. It not only gave them an entry to the playoffs but also knocked CSK out of the tournament.
Ruturaj Gaikwad will lead CSK in IPL 2025
After the legendary MS Dhoni stepped away as captain of CSK ahead of IPL 2024, Ruturaj Gaikwad was handed the responsibility of leading the side. Although Chennai had the same points as RCB (14) they finished fifth, a spot behind Bengaluru due to their inferior net run-rate, and thus failed to make it to the playoffs.
Ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, CSK announced Ruturaj Gaikwad as their top retention, retaining their skipper for a massive price of INR 18 Crore. Matheesha Pathirana (INR 13 crore), Shivam Dube (INR 12 crore), Ravindra Jadeja (INR 18 crore), and MS Dhoni (INR 4 crore) were the other retained players.
Gaikwad will lead the side once again in the 2025 season as they will be keen to bounce back and qualify for the playoffs. CSK will also eye a record sixth IPL title to become the most successful team in the history of the league.
